About
Sven Vollbrecht was born in West Berlin. He lives and works in Berlin, Germany.
His work examines the relationships between individuals, society, and consumer culture, questioning how contemporary systems shape perception, behavior, and personal responsibility. He views art as an open, constantly evolving process, an ongoing dialogue between the work, the artist, and the viewer.
After several years as a photographer and director in commercial art production, Vollbrecht shifted his focus in September 2022 to dedicate himself entirely to fine art. This step marked the beginning of a practice characterized by self-reflection and a continuous questioning of authenticity.
Vollbrecht’s artistic process is fluid and experience-based. His works develop from emotional states, material exploration, and conceptual openness rather than following predetermined outcomes. He understands each piece not as a final statement, but as a moment within an ongoing engagement that reflects both his artistic thinking and a specific point in time.
At the center of his practice is a critical examination of societal systems, particularly those concerning consumption and trust. His art invites critical reflection without providing definitive answers.
Interactivity is a central element in Vollbrecht’s work. Through participatory installations, viewers are actively involved in the piece and encouraged to shape meaning through personal experience rather than merely observing art passively.
Vollbrecht has shown his work at events and venues including Berlin Art Week 2022, Schöneberger Art 2022, Haus am Kleistpark 2023, and Notagallery 2024/25.
