Bestimmung

A garland makes an announcement. It says: A decision has been reached here, and everyone may rejoice.

Mine begins with a sigh. Then it turns friendly. It speaks of care and of what is best, leaving no word unsaid that someone might wish to retract.

I call this a decree. It sounds like fate, yet it has a sender. They mean well and do not wait for an answer. That answer is already there, written in their hand. One carries it forward like a name.

The letters are new. Nothing about them gives anything away.

The garland can be taken down. The decree cannot.
