Sculpture, aluminum container, modified industrial graphics
11.8 x 21.3 x 11.8 in
This work explores the translation of the restless search for digital stimuli and the fleeting desire for the next click into a physical form. I have repurposed a 30 liter aluminum container by relabeling it and symbolically filling it with dopamine. Through this process the immaterial suddenly becomes leaden and heavy.
The object functions as an industrial depot for our longings. While the label deconstructs the internet as an ingredient a hazard sticker marks the digital space as a toxic zone. My work focuses on the materialization of an addiction where a fleeting impulse in the brain manifests as potentially hazardous goods within a cold metallic body. I invite the viewer to not only understand the chemical architecture of our online behavior but to confront it as an object.
